Holy shit! Look at this special announcement!
On Sunday, August 24th, Riotfish will be attending the Comix & Stories “alternative & small press, zine, artwork and culture” convention in Vancouver. This year the convention is being held at the Vancouver Art Gallery, near the end of the KRAZY! art show, which appears to be about anime, comics, video games and art. I’m actually somewhat excited about this event, so if you’re in the Vancouver area, come on down and be excited with us!
We’ll be sharing a table with Mr. Arin Ringwald of Dabble Dream fame (which is gathering cobwebs over there on the side bar), and selling minis of 1989, Newspaper Comic Strip, and assorted other bits and pieces of comics and art. At some point we’d like to make such things available to Riotfish readers as well, hopefully sooner than later, but if you can’t wait, show up at the Vancouver Art Gallery on the 24th. Doors open at 11 AM.
I have been inexplicably obsessed with this song/video for the last 24 hours. My fevered brain insists on sharing it with you.
It’s now less than two weeks until the Comix & Stories small press convention at the Vancouver Art Gallery! We’re slowly crossing over from excited mode to panicked mode, as crunch time draws near.
Oh Jesus! One week from now I’ll be in Vancouver for a short while, mainly to attend the Comix & Stories small press convention at the Vancouver Art Gallery. As such, next week will be short on comics, but I’ll try to do as much as I can before I’m gone.
Update: I just noticed that Inkstuds has blogged a picture of the Comix & Stories flyer. If you squint, you can see my name!
This will probably be the second to last post for the next couple weeks. As you might know by now, I’m off to Vancouver next week for the Comix & Stories small press comic convention at the Vancouver Art Gallery, so if you’re in the area, drop by on Sunday, August the 24th, between 11 AM and 5 PM, and give Riotfish a shout.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF INTEREST: Some crazy things are on the horizon, so we’re taking a break from Newspaper Comic Strip to prepare for what’s coming. Strip resumes in one week. Enjoy a couple Descender strips in the meantime!
Hey, I’ve been interviewed by Digital Strips! They asked me some questions about Newspaper Comic Strip and Webcomic Idol. There’s a bit of a spoiler at the end – maybe not that much of one, but if you’d prefer to be surprised by the totally surprising thing we’re about to do, don’t read the last question!

Announcement of interest: I did some back cover art for the Winter 2008 issue of On Spec magazine, which is a long running Canadian sci-fi/fantasy quarterly. My painting is not featured on their site, but you can check it out at the Riotfish gallery here. The issue features the winners of a young writers competition, as well as an interview with Boing Boing’s Cory Doctorow.
