I’m reading Greg Bear’s “City at the End of Time” right now. It’s sort of like someone took William Hope Hodgson, The Never Ending Story, The Invisibles, some up to date quantum physics/cosmology, psychedelic disintegration, a large dollop of urban grit, and mixed it all together. Science Fiction that reads a bit like Fantasy.

I totally called it.
Action summary:
In the cockpit of the organic space ship, an alert sounds. The circle dude announces that they are “being followed by a bleep bleep,” and in the background the zombie can be seen racing along, still towing the descender by his shirt. With a movement-obscuring SPROING the pair leap from the tower to the spaceship. The circle guys scream in unison.
