Local art and entertainment magazine Off-Centre held a “graphic novel cover” contest recently. Although I did not win, I did get an honorable mention. View the piece in the Riotfish gallery here.

Off Center? Where are you guys from? :O
I’m based out of Vernon. James was in Armstrong until recently, but now he lords over Toronto from up on high.
I wonder where the tentacle dudes are going.
Vernon! Armstrong!! Maaaan I never realised you guys were from my corner of the world :O
Im from Salmon Arm.
It’s a small world after all!
Incidentally, “1989″ is a mashup of Vernon, the Kootenays, Salmon Arm and Red Deer. Specifically, it opens up at Herald Provincial Park/Margaret Falls (well, a loose interpretation of it at least).
Aww, man, just when I was getting the faintest clue what was going on. The tentacle guys are driving their gooshy ship away, but now the tongue-vagina thing is detached from its string. But going tunk. Good riddance to the circle dudes, I say.
Action summary:
He struggles free from the tongue just in time to see it retract into the ship and the ship depart.
