Distant Grains of Sunlight
Monday, December 24th, 2007Due to a few requests this painting will soon be available as a print.
It also allows me to introduce a new project I’m working on. The above painting was inspired by a track by Xenoglosia, from the album The Final Finalist. Xenoglosia and myself are teaming up for a series of back and forth paintings and songs. Painting inspired by song, song inspired by painting, etc. It should come out to four of each, eight in total.
Do yourself a favour and give the album a listen! It’s both soothing and alien. Also, it’s free!

I can’t even claim to be disappointed at the lack of a comic when you post these art pieces, they’re just too damned good. This one is easily my favorite so far, possibly only because of the cat looking up at the moon. I do have one small question though: When I look at the beams coming form the moon I’m pretty sure I’m seeing it shine through the clouds, but it also looks like it could be a light drizzle. Are my first instincts right on the money (moonlight filtering through clouds) or did it take me a second look to get it right (light drizzle)?
If I’m wrong on both counts and it’s either a mix of the two or something you’ve decided to leave up to the viewer then clearly I’m just too tired to function.

Thanks KingTaco.
Due to the current schedule, you can basically count on seeing ‘art’ posts at least once every 3 weeks. But I promise I’ll never dump sketches on ya’ll. We’re not that kind of web comic!
As for your question about the above painting, the answer is contained in the title. The ‘drizzle’ you see comes from the ‘grains of sunlight’.
