Happy Opposite Day!
In my efforts to complete more art, and make this website more active as well as interactive, I am going to be completing some of my many speed paintings, and I’d like your help in doing so! I’ll be posting works in progress to the blog from now on, and I’d really like it if you could help me make some of the decisions on how to complete them! I’ll take ideas, criticisms and, importantly, reference photos, so if you want to see yourself, or your friends and family (or maybe even your enemies) in my art, please feel free to chime in here, or on Facebook or Twitter (other social media on the way).
I’ll get things started with a sketch I started mucking with the other day. Where should I go next? Dwarves and Dragons? Spiderman and subterranean Sumerians? Fraggles VS. Doozers?
Lloyd Pye is dead from cancer, but the influence of his misanthropy and necrophilia lives on.
I saw this making the rounds this morning, but it only said a “hundred”, and people were adding a correction in text below the image. With all the online meme generators out there, it’s easy to fix it and pass the new iteration along!
I’ve trimmed some of the sidebar links in recent days, mostly to podcasters and bloggers I’d been addicted to for periods of time, but have split with over initially hidden, problematic political beliefs that became too much for me to endure and ignore any longer. Specifically, I’ve been having a bit of an awakening when it comes to homophobic and sexist language I have routinely employed myself, without fully being aware of the damage such can cause. With this in mind, I am pondering whether or not I should keep up the link to the webcomic Jerkcity, which is homophobic to its core. Am I over thinking this?
I had a chat with Doug Bolles and William Morgan of the 42 Minutes podcast in the snow while wearing a parka and a tuke. I think that from now on I shall conduct all my interviews thusly, even come Summer. Check out some of their offerings below!
